As the President Joseph Nyumah Boakai seeks for new generational professionals in his quest to transform and strengthen every governance sector of the economy, the Executive Director of a local based advocacy Think Tank, Youth for the Promotion of Good Governance and Peace, YOPROGOP, has brought to the swift attention of the President of the Republic, its most recently, conducted, random Public opinion survey of best possible alternative for succession to the Supreme Court Bench, as a result of the void created by the sad passing of His Honor, Joseph Nagbe after a protracted period of illness.
The Group, after a successful conduct of a sample size of over 100 Respondents, from three (3) dominant sub regional divisions of Liberia, mainly, Northern, Western and Central constituting and reflective of its Public opinion, as ascribed, hereinunder.
It says, for most part, the Supreme Court ought not to be a platform for pilfering or judicial tampering but outright dispensation of Justice and upholding the tenets of democracy and the Rule of Law.
As in, its survey analyses, there are several projectedly preferred, alternatives and candidates put for this Life Long decision making Post, “Associate Justice”.
Those namely are:
1) Cllr. T. Nagbalee Werner
2) Cllr. Jallah Barbu
3) Cllr. Kabineh Ja’neh
4) Cllr. John Lafayette Griggs
5) Cllr. Nancy Finda Sammie
6) Cllr. Cianneh Clinton Johnson
The Group says, the President of Liberia, amongst other things, should remain discreet in his judgement, as how to go about with said nomination to the Honorable Supreme Court Bench, especially at a time dire sensitivity to the need for access to Justice.
ANALYSES OF THE CANDIDATES….
Cllr. Kabineh Ja’neh
The sample size showed that about 80% disfavored the fact that President Boakai would nominate him, given his immediate past records of being the Head of a disbanded war machinery, Liberia United for Reconciliation and Democracy (LURD), a rebel faction, could get nominated to the Honorable Supreme Court Bench, in the face of the now endorsed Resolution for the establishment of the War and Economic Crimes Court (WECC), and cannot be considered by the Boakai’s Administration, as same will outrightly, desecrate the Bench and same use as a shield for possible war indictees under the established framework of the War and Economic Crimes Court (WECC), and an embattled and grossly impeached Associated Justice of the Supreme Court, who was removed by act of the Joint Chambers of the National Legislature for Judicial malfeasance and whether, the National Legislature could have him again confirmed for the same position from which he was impeached.
Cllr. Nagbalee Werner
It would further interest you to note that 60% of Respondents indicated that he is an accomplished academic Professional for the Post but reneged of his astute adeptness, staying at work, relative to his conspicuous tendency of resignations, evidenced, as in, Liberia Extractive Industry and Transparency Institution (LEITI) and then, as Board Member of the LPRC. The survey indicated fear and expressed disappointment that he could probable, likely resign a top-notch Post, as Associate Justice, when the nation would at such time be looking up to him for a Life long discharge of Judicial functions or duties in the best interest of the nation, most especially at a time when the nation is in dire need, thereby, jeopardizing the interest of the State and dashing the hope of millions of Liberians.
Cllr. Cianneh Clinton Johnson
The survey index has it that about 65% of Respondents indicated that she is one of few Judges that is being responsible for the over crowdiness of the Monrovia Central Prison, leading to the violation of the constitutional and statutory Rights of over thousands of male citizens and foreign nationals held in pre trial detention at the Criminal Court “E” or Rape Court for sex and sex related offenses, which are even further traceable to her inability to expeditiously proceed with Judicial Hearing of matters pending before her and thus, lacks the attributes to aid the Honorable Supreme Court in the expeditious reduction by Hearing of Cases already pending on appeal, where she is currently, the Resident Circuit Judge, thereby, amounting to the violation of basic fundamental Rights of citizens detained on Rape and Rape related charges without speedy trial.
In furtherance, thereof, the survey also informed and advised the opinion of the local based, Youth advocacy Think Tank that President Boakai come under advisement, not to nominate Cllr Cianneh Clinton Johnson to avert an expressed inefficient expediency at speedy trial of Cases.
Cllr Jallah Barbu
The survey showed that an overwhelming 75% of Respondents laid claims to the fact that since the inception of his position as Dean of the Louise Arthur Grimes School of Law, at the University of Liberia, the academic and approval rating of candidates has immensely dropped, as evidenced by his recent dispensation to candidates seeking admission to the Louise Arthur Grimes School of Law, which in the mind of the Public that his inclusion on the Supreme Court Bench could diminish the values, principles and ethical standards of the Bench, dampening the hope and expectation of the broader citizenry.
