Weighted down with United States sanctions and a slew of allegations, former Monrovia Mayor Jefferson Koijee seeks redemption through faith amidst the storm of controversy surrounding his name.

The 38-year-old politician who according to the US authorities has commanding influence over Monrovia’s youth announces his shift to religion.

Koijee took to Facebook in mid-April to share his new role as a preacher of the gospel of Jesus Christ, joining the ranks of other servants of God at Remedy International Movement in Monrovia.

A former student and rights activist, Jefferson Koijee is currently facing accusations of corruption and rights violations. He has maintained his innocence.

In an effort to protest these charges and find solace, the opposition Congress for Democratic Change party Secretary General has turned to God and embraced the teachings of a certain Philemon A. Tarpeh, whom he considers the pioneer of Remedy International Movement.

“We are told to understand “God’s Divine Guidance or Direction on this Christian Journey” taking three things into account,” he said

“During these soul touching moments, we promise to diligently serve the Church and the membership in fulfilling God’s promises while here.

“We remain exceedingly grateful to all teachers who played significant role in impacting us including our fellow graduates who mustered the courage to stay around for these months of impactful teachings of God’s words.

Remedy International Movement, with its multiple branches across Liberia, boasts a diverse membership encompassing individuals from various walks of life, including the highs and lows of Liberian society.

This inclusive environment and the impactful teachings of God’s words have inspired Koijee to immerse himself in the ministry and deepen his faith.
