A power delegation from the Millennium Challenge Corporation headed by its Managing Director, Ms. Carrie Monahan has arrived in the Liberian capital, Monrovia on an official visitation and to hold talks with the economic team of the government headed by Finance and Development Planning Minister Augustine Ngafuan.

The visitation in response to a potential $500 million grant from the Millennium Challenge Corporation to the Liberian government.

The late parts of July of this year, the United States Government, through the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), reaffirmed its commitment to a potential US$500 million Compact with Liberia, following months of review under the new Trump Administration.

“MCC is proud of our longstanding history with Liberia and is enthusiastic about embarking on a new partnership to advance opportunities for the people of Liberia,” said MCC Chief Executive Officer Alice Albright in a statement originally issued in December 2024, when Liberia was first declared eligible for Compact development.

Liberia not yet fully qualifies for such grant as MCC is reviewing the file of the government including good financial policy, good governance and gender equality among others.
