Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) convened service providers on Friday for a public consultation aimed at reviewing the Universal Access Fund’s (UAF) regulations for the first time in five years.

The consultation focused on enhancing rural infrastructure expansion and ensuring affordable voice and broadband services across the country.

The updated regulatory framework is designed to support the Universal Access Program, which promotes connectivity in unserved and underserved areas.

Acting Director of UAF, Elijah Glay, emphasized the importance of collaboration during the consultation, noting that input from service providers is essential for crafting practical and effective regulations.

Glay assured participants that all feedback would be carefully considered and incorporated into the final draft. He highlighted that once finalized, the new regulations would serve as a critical tool to guide telecommunications expansion, bridge the connectivity gap in rural communities, and advance the UAF’s nationwide goals.
