Weah Edges to Another Six Years in Office as Country’s Youths Retain Trust in Leadership

Tens of thousands of people took to the streets in Monrovia Thursday to demonstrate their faith in President George Weah’s nearly six years stewardship of the country as 2.5 million people prepare to vote in the October 10 general elections.

The crowd dominantly young people trooped into the Antoinette Tubman Stadium and filled it beyond capacity in the early morning hours. Other supporters who could not make it into the football stadium swamped the surrounding streets in an amazing show of solidarity to a leader critics and rival politicians have dismissed as inexperienced and incompetent.

“President Weah has done a lot for the country including free education and there is a need for him to be re-elected,” Nowah Mulbah, a first-time voter who lives on the Capitol Bye Pass said.

“When he wins I will be sure of going to school and completing college education.”

Thomas Tamba Bondo another young man told the Oracle News Daily he is supporting the reelection of president Weah to continue his developmental agenda.

“I’m Voting for President Weah because of the tuition free policy for all public institutions of Liberia and digitalization of the state run university, construction of markets that put our mothers in comfortable positions when they are doing their businesses. “

‘Party of the People’

Weah,56 told his supporters he has performed in office beyond compared. He pointed to education reform efforts including tuition free university, political freedom, and freedom of the press and expression, women empowerment and infrastructure development.

Main opposition leader Joseph Boakai associated with had leadership for more than 40 years and squandered all the opportunities, he alleged.

“We gather here today to show the world that we are the party of the people and that’s why before becoming President I contributed to your development. We are here today because of what we have achieved together.

“To you our first-time voters, you made no mistake by choosing the mighty Coalition Democratic Change.

“On October 10, 2023, vote for George Manneh Weah, your leader, father, son and brother and vote for Madam Jewel Howard Taylor, your daughter, sister, mother and leader as Vice President.
