New Bassa Lawmaker Targets LAC

Must read

Grand Bassa County Electoral District #4 Representative elect Alfred Flomo has vowed to begin a robust fight for Liberians, especially his constituents, beginning with the Liberia Agriculture Company (LAC) concession agreement.

The lawmaker wants thorough review of the company’s concession agreement with the Liberian government to meet current realities and needs of the community and national government.

Flomo said the sector reduces unemployment, enables food security and facilitates trade that can potentially boast growth and development.

The Representative-elect urged public officials in the Legislature and Executive to promote programs and policies that will improve the agricultural sector.

LAC concession was created by the government in 1959 and later purchased by Uniroyal. Starting in 1961, the company developed a 7 000 hectare rubber plantation there.

The incoming Bassa Representative did not say what portion of the agreement should be reexamined.
