Dr. Louise Kpoto has promised to fight corruption and activate public trust and effectiveness in the health delivery system that has been hampered for years due to financial mismanagement and lack of adequate leadership.
Going forward the Ministry of Health’s operation will not be business as usual but an entity that will put service delivery, transparency and accountability at the heart of its management, Dr. Kpoto said Wednesday when taking charge as the country’s new minister of Health.
She promised to create a vibrant working environment to increase productivity at all levels of the sector. This will require effecting changes that will build the sector’s resilience, she add. Accusations of misused donors and government funding will be probed, the Minister said.
“I want to reassure all health workers and partners of our commitment to foresting a transparent health sector and zero tolerant for corruption.
“You can be assured that contributions made to the health delivery system will be transparently used for the purpose and accounted for.”
