Finance and Development Planning Minister Boima Kamara may have abandoned duties for unknown reasons as the Ministry’s communication unit clarifies he has not been sick and is in good health.

The Ministry’s statement is in reaction to the Oracle News Daily’s report that the Minister has been absence from work due to unexplained illness.

“Minister Boima Kamara is in good health,” the communication unit said in the Statement.

“The Ministry of Finance and Development Planning terms as false and misleading that Minister Boima S. Kamara is battling unspecified medical condition which is adversely affecting his management of the Fiscal House.”

Minister Kamara has been an absent figure at the Ministry for more than two weeks. When Oracle News Daily contacted the communication unit to explain why the Minister has not been on job for that length of time, Patience Senkpeni Kumeh, who heads the department responded,”Iet me call you back.”

That call was not returned.

Below is the statement:

The Ministry categorically refutes said misinformation and considers it as deliberately deceptive propaganda and baseless claims designed by anti-government elements.

The Ministry discloses that Minister Boima Kamara is in good health and will next week attend a week-long African Development Bank’s Summit in Nairobi, Kenya.

As Minister of Finance, Hon. Kamara represents Liberia as Governor on the Bank’s Board of Governors.

The Minister of Finance will be accompanied to the Summit by the Deputy Minister for Economic Management, Hon. Dehpue Zuo..

Meanwhile, the Finance Ministry categorically denies media reports that he is contemplating resignation owing to poor health or reported dissatisfaction and disappointment with the management team.

The Finance Ministry also further denies reports that Minister Kamara feels frustrated that the members of his team were imposed on him thus undermining his performance as Minister.

The Ministry rubbishes and considers as absolute falsehood that Minister Kamara has grown increasingly frustrated and dissatisfied with the sheer magnitude of problems he inherited.

The Ministry states that Minister Kamara enjoys excellent working relationship with the team of qualified, dedicated and experienced professionals in delivering on the economic agenda of the Boakai-led government.
