FIFA has awarded three points and three goals to Liberia, after  Equitorial Guinea were found guilty of fielding an  ineligible player in the November 2023 World Cup qualifiers in Monrovia.

In the findings released Friday, FIFA said striker  Emilio Nsue was ineligible, but he  was fielded in several matches including the 20 November 2023 World Cup qualifier against Liberia.

Nsue, who starred at the recently held Africa Cup of Nations, scored the lone goal, as Equitorial Guinea pinned Liberia at the SKD Stadium in Paynesville in 2023.

The FIFA Disciplinary Committee also imposed a fine of 150k Swiss Franc on the Equitorial Guinea Football Association.

Nsue was also banned for six months for playing for any representative team of any association.

Born in Mallorca to an Equatorial Guinean father, the 34-year-old played for Spain at all youth levels before agreeing to represent his father land.

In 2013, FIFA also declared Nsue ineligible having scored a hat-trick in a 4-3 win over Cape Verde during the 2014 World Cup qualifiers. It was his first competitive game for Equatorial Guinea.
