Liberia: Archbishop Jubwe Meets Pope Francis

Must read

The Metropolitan Archbishop of Monrovia has concluded his visit to the Vatican where he had several pastoral engagements and received his Pallium from Pope Francis in Rome during Mass on the Solemnity of the Saints Peter and Paul.

The pallia is a vestment in the Catholic Church which symbolizes an archbishop’s unity with the pope and his authority and responsibility to take care of the flock entrusted to him.

Pope Francis blessed the Pallia during Mass before giving them to the Most Revered Dr. Gabriel Blamo Jubwe and other new Metropolitan Archbishops appointed in the last one year.

Celebration of the Investiture with Pallium on Archbishop Jubwe at a Thanksgiving Mass is pending in Monrovia.

Pope Francis on Feb. 28 named Jubwe as head of the nearly 200,000 Catholics in Liberia. He was ordained on May 4 and has promised to primarily focus on reforming the Church and engage with the country’s authorities to foster national unity and promote social and economic development for the well-being of the 5.5 million people of Liberia.
