12,000 Liberian Youths Embark on The Liberia Telecommunication Authority (LTA) has announced the training of 12,000 Liberian youths in essential digital competencies.

This initiative, aligned with President Joseph Boakai’s vision outlined in his State of the Nation Address earlier this year, aims to equip the next generation with the skills needed to thrive in the digital economy.

The Chairman of the LTA Board of Commissioners Abdullah Kamara revealed that the “Liberia Digital Transformation Training Program” has brought together young people from all 15 counties, including those with physical disabilities.

The comprehensive training covers a range of areas, including Basic Digital Skills, E-Commerce, Digital Marketing, and Digital Surveys.

“We are thrilled to see the overwhelming interest from the youth, particularly the high participation of female trainees,” Kamara said.

“This program is a crucial step in preparing Liberia for the digital future and unlocking the full potential of our young people.”

The training is being conducted at multiple locations, including the NVTI Campus, Blue Crest University, BW Harris, and other sites throughout Montserrado County.

The program also features a seed funding initiative, where participants with innovative digital solutions will compete for up to $250,000 in start-up capital.

“Digital transformation holds the key to Liberia’s economic growth, improved public services, and enhanced quality of life for our citizens,” Kamara said.

“By equipping our youth with essential digital skills, we are paving the way for a more prosperous and inclusive future.”

The program’s success has exceeded initial expectations, with the training currently benefiting 12,000 participants. Additionally, the LTA has reserved scholarships for select participants to pursue further studies in ICT at local universities.
