The Sinoe County Health Team has initiated an impactful health awareness campaign aimed at tackling two critical public health issues in Liberia: Onchocerciasis, known as River Blindness, and Lymphatic Filariasis, commonly referred to as Elephantiasis or Big Foot.
Launched on November 20, 2024, in Greenville, this campaign seeks to educate residents and promote active engagement in an ongoing Mass Drug Administration (MDA) initiative targeting these diseases.
The launch event featured a combination of outdoor demonstrations and indoor workshops, drawing in health workers, local residents, and stakeholders from various sectors.

Dr. John S. Yarngrorble, the Sinoe County Health Officer, highlighted the urgency of the campaign during his keynote address. “Onchocerciasis and Lymphatic Filariasis are preventable diseases. Through proper medication and consistent community involvement, we can eliminate these diseases and improve the quality of life for our people,” Dr. Yarngrorble stated.
