The Liberia Maritime Authority (LiMA) has once again proven its mettle, successfully completing the mid-year verification exercise under the Government of Liberia’s flagship Performance Management and Compliance System (PMCS) — a rigorous accountability framework designed to spotlight institutional excellence across the public sector.
The day-long evaluation, conducted by the PMCS Secretariat, scrutinized LiMA’s performance across critical benchmarks: strategic planning, service delivery, resource mobilization, system efficiency, and institutional capacity building.
The exercise offered a rare opportunity for independent verification teams to measure LiMA’s progress against its commitments and assess the evidence of reforms driving its operations.
Leading the verification team, Mr. Gerald Hanyor praised LiMA’s diligence and urged the Authority to maintain its momentum. He emphasized that the PMCS is more than a compliance tool — it is a national accountability compass, designed to measure institutional output, strengthen transparency, and identify capacity gaps that demand urgent redress.
“PMCS is a critical instrument for ensuring that government institutions deliver results that matter to citizens. It sharpens accountability and builds the foundation for effective governance,” Hanyor declared.
LiMA’s PMCS Focal Person, Mr. Frederick Varnie, reaffirmed the Authority’s unwavering commitment to the process. He stressed that LiMA remains determined to fortify its systems, elevate service delivery, and uphold compliance with performance standards that set the bar for public institutions nationwide.
“Our success under PMCS is not accidental — it is the product of deliberate reforms, teamwork, and a culture of accountability. LiMA will continue to lead by example,” Varnie asserted.
