The Deputy Director-General of the National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP), Cllr. Moiffee Kanneh has denied social media reports that he had accused Director-General Dewitt vonBallmoos of corruption, calling the accounts “false and misleading.”
In a statement posted to his Facebook page, Cllr. Kanneh said the trending story suggesting a rift and a heated confrontation between the agency’s two top officials was fabricated and intended to create division within NASSCORP.
“At no time did I publicly accuse my boss of corruption or engage in any such confrontation,” he wrote.
Cllr. Kanneh described the posts as malicious and damaging to both his office and the institution.
He said he maintains an “exceptional relationship” with Director-General vonBallmoos and urged bloggers, journalists and media outlets to verify information before publication.
“Spreading unconfirmed reports can mislead the public and harm the credibility of important public institutions,” he added.
NASSCORP manages pension funds for Liberian workers, a responsibility that can quickly stoke public concern when allegations of misconduct surface.
The deputy director-general warned that the circulation of unverified stories could create unnecessary fear and confusion among retirees and contributors.
Cllr. Kanneh called on those responsible for spreading the rumours to stop and for media practitioners to adhere to basic verification standards.
He emphasized the need to protect the reputation of the agency and the confidence of the public it serves.
