Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) Commissioner General James Dorbor Jallah has stepped onto the continental stage, participating in the 7th Heads of Tax Administrations Master Class in Banjul, The Gambia — a premier executive leadership program convened by the African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) in partnership with the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA).
Held under the electrifying theme, “Leading for Greatness: Shaping High-Performance Tax Administrations,” the forum unites Commissioners General and Directors General from across Africa in a powerful bid to sharpen leadership capacity, exchange frontline experiences, and craft innovative strategies for building resilient, high-performing revenue institutions.
Recognized as ATAF’s flagship executive leadership initiative, the Master Class offers a confidential arena for senior tax administrators to engage in strategic dialogue, peer learning, and collaboration on the pressing issues shaping the future of tax governance on the continent.
This year’s program zeroes in on the leadership skills required to build accountable, modern, and results-driven tax institutions capable of thriving in today’s complex economic environment. Through expert presentations, executive debates, peer exchanges, and reflective sessions, participants are dissecting practical approaches to strengthening organizational culture, boosting institutional performance, and fostering leadership that drives sustainable excellence.
The forum also provides a platform for tackling emerging challenges in tax administration, spotlighting successful practices, and identifying cutting-edge solutions to enhance revenue collection, taxpayer services, digital transformation, and organizational effectiveness.
Commissioner General Jallah underscored the significance of the program, declaring: “Strong institutions are built on strong leadership. This Master Class provides an invaluable opportunity to learn from our peers, share Liberia’s experiences, and adopt innovative approaches that will strengthen our institution, improve taxpayer services, and enhance domestic revenue mobilization.”
He emphasized that the insights gained will directly fuel the LRA’s modernization agenda — including digital transformation, organizational performance upgrades, enhanced taxpayer services, and preparations for the landmark implementation of Value Added Tax (VAT) on January 1, 2027.
ATAF, Africa’s premier tax administration body, continues to spearhead efforts to strengthen domestic resource mobilization through leadership development, technical assistance, research, knowledge sharing, and regional cooperation.
