There’s no evidence pointing to mudslide at any of the mines, which Turkish firm Bea Mountain Mining Company is operating in Liberia.
The gold miner, which is the subsidiary of Avesoro Resources experienced an accident at its Kinjor sites in Liberia’s western Grand Cape Mount County that killed one person and injured two foreign workers. The company said it is probing the matter to avoid future occurrence.
The incident occurred on Oct. 17 when falling rocks hit a three-man team preparing to conduct a blast underground, the company’s Safety Manager Shadrach Fahnbulleh told reporters Monday during tour of the sites.
“It was never a landslide.”
“It is just about few pieces of rocks that felt from the top. It was only three person that were there on that operation.
“Since the accident we have barricaded the area. We are doing detailed investigation to ensure we can put some measures in place and improve on whatever gap that may have been the cause. But I can tell you we have done good things to protect our workers.”
