In fulfilment of President Boakai’s digital skills project for 10,000 youths here, the House of Representatives has mandated Liberia Telecommunication Authority, director general to liaise with the Committee on Telecommunications for a detailed implementation plan.
The House took the decision after the Liberia Telecommunications Authority Director General, Madam Edwina Crump Zackpah failed to provide a clear role map on the policy implementation plan.
The committee along with the LTA will develop a clear strategic plan that will focus on how the president’s policy becomes reality.
It can be recalled that President Boakai during his State of the Nation Address made a public policy stating to conduct digital skills project training for 10,000 youths within half the period of 2024.
The statement drew the house’s attention thus inviting the LTA Board of Commissioners to provide information on how the policy can be actualized.
Although the LTA Director General Edwina Crump Zackpah presented a visual content, members of the house were not convinced, something that led to their decision.
Meanwhile, the visual content of the project presented by the Director General of Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA), contained practical on-handwork and awareness.
The content highlights the projects contributing to the economy through job creation and economic prosperity.
The project will factor all fifteen counties inclusive of males and females across Liberia.
The LTA visual presentation also emphasized on basic computer training focusing towards achieving national digital transformation in the private and public sectors.
