Campaign promises are often not kept but a lawmaker from Sinoe County, Alex Noah is thinking of it differently.
Representative Noah during the close of his campaign during the 2023 elections, promised women of the five stationary districts in Electoral District #3 that when elected, he would have empowered them by providing loans.
Good to his promise, the lawmaker has deposited the amount of 5000,000 (5 million) Liberian dollars to be distributed to the five stationary districts in Electoral District Three. “The money will be given to the leadership that will be set up,” Rep. Noah said.
According to the lawmaker, the five million Liberian dollars is his way of empowering women of the district. The lawmaker said, “They will not pay me back, nothing coming back to me, it is money that will be rotational among the women. They will have their leadership that we are putting into place in the various districts.”
Accounting to him, the point of having a leadership is to put into place a regulatory body that will play a supervisory role so that money rotates to reach more beneficiaries in the district.
“It is my own way of helping the women for them to be doing something” the lawmaker said.
The Sinoe District Three lawmaker who is poised to leave Monrovia for his district, said he is going back home to appreciate all those who trusted his ability and made him their lawmaker.
“We will make a difference. We will go back to all the statutory districts in District Three and say thank you to our people,” he said.
According to him, it is his hope that everything he said to his people during the campaign will come to reality.
“There are a whole lot of things we said to our people, but those ones that are not contingent upon project ban, or bad roads, we should be able to do them first,” he said.
Additionally, the lawmaker intoned that there are projects he promised to implement during the dry season, but was quick to say, “While we are going for our thank you tour, we should be able to do all of the financial promises made.”
