Liberia: Grand Gedeh Senator Pledges Support for ‘Yellow Machine’ Deal

Must read

Grand Gedeh County Senator Zoe Emmanuel Pennue has stated that if an agreement regarding the much-debated yellow machine deal comes before the Liberian Senate, he will not hesitate to join other Senators in ratifying it.

According to the Senator, the robust rehabilitation of the road from Nimba to Grand Gedeh, specifically the county capital Zwedru, has convinced the people of Grand Gedeh to support any agreement related to the yellow machines.

“The people of Grand Gedeh have informed me to vote for any agreement of the yellow machines if it comes before the Legislature,” Senator Pennue revealed.

Even in the absence of an agreement, the Grand Gedeh Lawmaker acknowledged that he felt a “divine instruction” from his constituents in a dream, urging him to back any agreement concerning the yellow machines.

Pennue praised the current Unity Party-led government, stating that in its first hundred days, it has maintained the road to his county, which he deemed worth appreciating.

He noted that during the previous CDC administration, it would take his people weeks to travel from Monrovia to Zwedru, but now the journey can be completed in just six to seven hours.

“I am a CDC Senator, but comparing the CDC regime in the last six years to what the Unity Party government has done on our road in less than six months, I can clearly say that this Unity Party government has done exceptionally well for our people based on the maintenance of our road,” Pennue asserted.

The Senator further revealed that the improved road conditions have led to a significant reduction in the prices of basic goods during the rainy season, with transportation costs from Zwedru to Ganta dropping from as high as LD$12,000 to as low as LD$3,000 to LD$4,000.

“The Bible teaches us to say the truth and not bear false witness, as such, being a CDC Senator doesn’t mean I shouldn’t appreciate this government,” Pennue said..
