EPA Reopens Mineral Water Factory Following Compliance Improvements

Must read

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of Liberia in collaboration with the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL), has announced the successful reopening of Grandma’s Mineral Water Factory as of October 25, 2024.

The factory is now cleared for public consumption after significant upgrades were made to address previously identified health and safety violations.

Grandma’s Mineral Water Factory was shut down on August 6, 2024, following a rigorous joint investigation by the EPA and NPHIL. This investigation, carried out from July 29 to August 2, revealed serious violations of environmental and public health standards, including operation without the necessary permits and unsanitary conditions within the facility.

Laboratory tests during the investigation indicated that the water produced at the time was unsafe for human consumption, prompting the agencies to act swiftly to protect public health. The authorities emphasized the need for compliance with health and environmental guidelines to ensure consumer safety.

In the months following the closure, the CEO of Grandma’s Mineral Water demonstrated a strong commitment to rectify the issues identified.

Engaging closely with both the EPA and NPHIL, the company implemented necessary improvements that satisfied regulatory standards. This cooperative effort ultimately led to the issuance of a compliance certificate, facilitating the factory’s reopening.

With its doors now open to the public once again, Grandma’s Mineral Water Factory is committed to providing safe and approved products. The EPA and NPHIL have assured the community of their ongoing vigilance in monitoring operations to uphold regulatory standards and ensure public safety.
