Liberia’s Ambassador-at-Large for Youths and Sports, Alioune Kebe, has donated a substantial collection of sporting materials to President Joseph Nyumah Boakai.
This initiative is geared towards establishing a Sports Academy that will serve young athletes in all 15 counties of Liberia.
During a ceremony held over the weekend at the President’s Rehab residence, Ambassador Kebe reaffirmed his commitment to fostering national unity and creating opportunities for the youth through the transformative power of sports. He emphasized that sports could be a vital platform for positive change under the Boakai administration.
“I am hopeful that the Liberia Sports Academy will reach greater heights, ensuring that all our national teams are fully engaged and competing for trophies on the global stage,” Ambassador Kebe said, exuding optimism for the future of sports in Liberia.
Kebe outlined ambitious plans for the development of the country’s sports programs, including the identification and nurturing of raw talent among young people.
“Liberia is brimming with untapped potential. Our task is to create programs that can showcase these talents to the world and provide the necessary support for their growth,” he said.
Upon accepting the sports materials, President Boakai expressed his gratitude toward Ambassador Kebe, commending him for his visionary leadership in the domain of sports.
“Your vision to fulfill the dreams of young people across this country is not only achievable, but it is essential for our nation’s future,” the President said.
He further encouraged Kebe to persist in his mission to uplift talented young individuals in Liberia, assuring him of his administration’s unwavering support. “Together, we can deliver meaningful opportunities for our youth, enabling them to excel both locally and internationally,” President Boakai asserted.
The donation comes at a crucial time for Liberia, as the nation seeks to enhance its competitiveness on the global sports stage. With ongoing challenges, including limited resources and infrastructure, programs such as the proposed Sports Academy could play a pivotal role in reviving the country’s athletic prospects and inspiring the next generation of athletes.
The planned distribution of sports materials across the 15 counties is expected to mobilize youth participation in various sports disciplines, nurturing talent and fostering healthy competition.
