Turkish firm Bea Mountain Mining Corporation (BMMC) officially turned over a new sustainable water tower to local authorities in Kinjor on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. This initiative is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility and its dedication to enhancing the living conditions of residents in the mining community.
During the handover ceremony, attended by Grand Cape Mount County Superintendent Kiatamba, local leaders, and enthusiastic community members, the new water tower was met with widespread gratitude and optimism.
The installation is set to deliver purified water to over 17,000 residents of Kinjor, effectively addressing long-standing water scarcity issues, especially during the dry season.
Superintendent Kiatamba expressed his heartfelt appreciation to BMMC for the project, highlighting its crucial role in alleviating water-related hardships faced by the community.
“This water is immensely useful to my citizens and will help to alleviate constraints we experience during periods of scarce rainfall,” he remarked, underscoring the importance of accessible clean water.
Community leaders, including Kinjor Town Chief Musa Massaley, Youth Chairman Winston Korsor, and RAP Chairman Lansana K. Sambola, echoed Kiatamba’s sentiments, thanking BMMC for their commitment to improving local infrastructure.
“For us, this project is transformative. Clean water is essential to our health and development, and BMMC has demonstrated true concern for our wellbeing,” Massaley stated.
However, during the ceremony, it was noted that a second water tower in Jawajeh Marvoh was not yet completed. Technical Manager Tansen reassured residents that efforts are underway, promising the project’s completion and subsequent turnover to the community shortly.
Residents expressed their collective gratitude, with local citizen James Kemokai reflecting the mood of many. “For me, we want to thank BMMC for this big water project here. As you know, water is life, and anyone who is concerned about your wellbeing means well for you. And that is exactly what BMMC has done,” Kemokai said joyfully.
This is not the first instance of BMMC’s contribution to Kinjor; the corporation has previously constructed multiple water towers across various locations in Grand Cape Mount County, reaffirming its commitment to sustainable development in the region.
As the community celebrates this new milestone, the focus remains on the broader impact of access to clean water on public health and economic development in Kinjor.
