President said educators have a critical role in nurturing the talents and potential of Liberia’s youth, who are vital in propelling the nation toward growth and prosperity.

While expressing optimism for the future, he voiced serious concerns over the proliferation of substandard universities in Liberia.

Boakai said the Ministry of Education and the National Commission on Higher Education must take decisive action against inferior institutions that, in his words, “unjustly undermine the development of the country.”

“The children of this country deserve the best,” he said.

“The accreditation of educational institutions as universities should be a thorough process, grounded in clear, well-defined criteria.”

President Boakai explained that a high-quality educational system is essential not just for individual success, but for national advancement.

“We must remain steadfast in our commitment to delivering quality education that equips our students to lead with excellence.”

He highlighted the importance of technical training and career mentoring and called on Margibi University to continue attracting qualified faculty and enhancing its facilities.

The President also pointed out the necessity of securing financial support for sustained educational excellence. “As a government, we will continue to seek the collaboration of local and international partners to ensure that Margibi University remains well-resourced for effective teaching and learning,” he promised.

The President reminded the graduates that their academic journey has prepared them to take on leadership roles, especially in a world filled with uncertainty and challenges. He urged them to pursue their ambitions relentlessly while remaining resilient in the face of adversity.

“Strive to reach your full potential. Set ambitious goals, work tirelessly toward them, and never settle for mediocrity,” he implored. “Much has been given to you through your education. Now, much is expected of you.”

The commencement ceremony articulated a broader vision for Liberia’s educational future, one that emphasizes quality, accountability, and a commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders.

He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to improving the educational landscape, thus supporting institutions like Margibi University in their mission to provide exemplary education.

The dialogue surrounding quality education will be crucial in determining not only individual success stories but also the collective fate of the nation.

In the words of President Boakai, “Go forth and uplift Liberia.” The responsibility now lies in the hands of the graduates and the institutions that educated them, tasked with ensuring that Liberia competes and thrives on the global stage.
