Liberia: Self-Indictment and Public Admittance of Failure. The Case with Senator Gbehnzohngar Milton Findley

Must read

By Philip Karnga

Senator Gbehzohngar Findley’s tenure in government spans nearly two decades, with notable positions such as Senator, Pro-tem, Board chair and Foreign Minister. However, his legacy is marked by several notable failures and criticisms, particularly regarding his lack of tangible contributions to development despite his extensive time in office.

It’s easy to say his appearance on OK FM in which he reign praises on Representatives Clarence Banks are sufficient evidence to summarize his two decades of living on government money. Below listed are quantified self-indictment of his appearance with journalist Clarence Jackson

  1. Failure to Address Infrastructure Development: One of the most glaring shortcomings of Senator Findley’s tenure is his inability to address basic infrastructural needs in his native county/ Grand Bassa and the nation at large. Despite holding positions of significant influence, including Foreign Minister, Findley failed to initiate or contribute meaningfully to infrastructure projects. In particular, his failure to address critical issues like ,roads, and basic public services is a point of contention. For almost 20 years in government, Senator Findley did not invest in simple yet essential tasks like providing even a wheelbarrow least to mention purchasing a yellow machine.
  2. Lack of Accountability in Public Service: Despite being in high-ranking government positions, Senator Findley did not leverage his authority in making regular annual reports to the people of Bassa that could bring about substantial improvements to the public sector or deliver essential services. This lack of accountability, combined with his failure to advocate for meaningful policies that would have directly benefited the citizens, tarnishes his legacy. Many citizens and critics argue that he did not fulfill his duty to address the growing infrastructural needs of his people, and his time in office was often marked by stagnation rather than innovation evidence of his defeat to former Senator Kaipay while even serving as Pro-temt.
  3. Failure to Prioritize Constituency Needs: As a Senator, Findley had the platform and opportunity to focus on the development of his constituency. However, he did little to address basic needs, such as roads and other infrastructure that would have impacted the lives of the people of Bassa . His failure to prioritize these issues left a lasting impression of neglect and poor leadership in the minds of our people. Eg: His spearheading of the construction of GBU across a River without Bridge.
  4. Failure to Set an Example for Younger Leaders: Senator Findley’s public praise of the one-year-old representative Clarence Banks for buying earth-moving equipments for road projects in Bassa highlights another critical failure. Despite Findley’s long tenure, he was unable to lead by example or inspire similar initiatives among other politicians or public servants. His own failure to undertake such projects underscores his lack of proactivity and leadership. By publicly congratulating a younger representative for doing something Findley could not, he inadvertently highlighted his own shortcomings and missed opportunities during his long career.
  5. Missed Opportunities for Development: Throughout his time in government and counting, Senator Findley had access to resources, influence, and opportunities to make significant changes.
  6. However, there is little to show for this in terms of lasting infrastructure projects or other tangible improvements for the people he was supposed to serve. His inability to capitalize on these opportunities is contributing to his failure to leave behind a legacy of progress and development.

When we talk these things, his cronies and stooges says we hate the man…

Even the Bible says: “To whom much is given, much is expected/required.
