Two Liberian journalists on Wednesday, 03 September 2025, appeared before the Cestos City Magisterial Court in Rivercess County.
Journalists Eric Opa Doue and Methusaleh Gaye were summoned by the Cestos City Magisterial Court as part of the start of hearings into the charge of Criminal Coercion.
The case was filed by police officer Ojuku Weeks, who accused the journalists of publishing information falsely linking him to being arrested for possession of narcotics and to paying bribe to secure his release.
The journalists were represented in Court by Attorney-At-Law Bruce Boweh, who was deployed by the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) to represent the legal interests of the journalists.
This is the second time in less than a month that the PUL has engaged the services of Attorney Boweh on behalf of journalists Doue and Gaye.
In the first case, Attorney Boweh successfully pleaded with the Yarpah Town Magisterial Court to drop the criminal contempt of court charge against the journalists.
The PUL is closely following the developments and will provide updates on the outcomes of Wednesday’s hearing.
