The Liberia Civil Aviation Authority has launched its Civil Aviation Master Plan for 2025-2045, a 20-year strategy to modernize and sustain the country’s aviation sector.
In a statement, director-general Julius D. Dennis Jr. said the plan focuses on three pillars: strengthening aviation safety; modernizing infrastructure; and building local technical capacity through specialized training program and strategic international partnerships.
The framework also prioritizes air connectivity and environmental sustainability to support economic growth and align Liberia with global aviation standards.
Liberia currently lacks functioning domestic commercial airlines. Foreign carriers like Ethiopian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Kenya Airways, Air Peace, Royal Air Maroc, and Air Côte d’Ivoire provide international flights to Monrovia Roberts. Years of civil war, poor management, and financial difficulties led to the collapse of former national carrier Air Liberia by 2006, while a brief attempt to revive a flag carrier under the public/private Lone Star Air brand in 2020 also failed.
