Liberia: NEC Reaffirms Commitment to Electoral Reforms

The National Elections Commission working with other Liberian government agencies and international partners, convened the 5th High-Level Coordination Platform on Elections on Tuesday, 17 March 2026 at One UN House in Monrovia, reaffirming a shared commitment to strengthening the country's democracy.

The Commission through its outgoing Chairperson, Madam Davidetta Browne Lansanah, highlighted progress on its 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, ongoing electoral reforms, and early preparations for boundary delimitation.

She also reaffirmed strong collaboration with partners including the UNDP Liberia and Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), noting the upcoming European Union Election Observation follow-up mission.

The High-level Coordination Platform recognized the contributions of Josephine Nkrumah and Davidetta Browne Lansanah to advancing credible and peaceful elections in Liberia.

The platform remains vital for coordination, transparency, and sustaining democratic progress beyond election cycles.
