Media Groups In Morocco to Aid Liberian Newspapers

The President of the Publishers Association of Liberia along with Mohamed Kanneh, Publisher ofthe Heritage Newspaper have had series of discussions with various media groups in Morocco who have expressed their willingness to help the entity and the Liberian media.

The President of the Publishers Association of Liberia along with Mohamed Kanneh, Publisher of the Heritage Newspaper have had series of discussions with various media groups in Morocco who have expressed their willingness to help the entity and the Liberian media.

In one of the meetings held last weeks with the president of the Moroccan press Association, the head of that entity said, his team was prepared to provide both technical assistances.

“With the request you have made to us, we are glad to look into them andwill provide some of your needs. We in Morocco are always willing to help our African brothers, “ Mr. Abdelhabim EL Morabit, director for External interpreted his boss as saying.

For LE Matin, the largest printing company in Morocco, president, Mr.  Mohammed Haitami said due to the level of cooperation PAL wants to establish; his group has decided to work closely with the Liberian media.

Other institution which trains young journalists from various countries, in Morocco, has also expressed its willingness to a provide scholarships for a number of media personal, especially young journalists to advance studies. According to his record in the school, there has been no Liberian student since it was established over fifty years.

“You have had students from several countries in Africa and outside of the continent. There is no Liberian.  We would like to see some young Liberian journalists to come and get the water of extra knowledge from Morocco, so that they can become ambassadors for you tomorrow in the next academic year,” Mr. Toweh remarked.

“Yes, this is something we would like to do, Mr.  MohssineBenzakour, Director of students Affairs, Institute of Information and Communication said. Later, the PAL team interacted with students from other African countries.

For the body that regulates media audio visual content, head expressed their willingness to assist the Liberia Media council. Its engineers are the first in Africa to develop a software to monitor audio visual as well as radio content, airtime allocation among others. Due to its importance and accuracy, some European nations arousing the software.

“We will be glad to help Liberia with this.  We have 14 counties using this software today and we will be glad to include Liberia   when you make the request. Madam Latifa Akharbach, president, Content management, Institute for Audio Visual Communication, Kingdom of Morocco said.

“PAL can assure you that the request will be made in the shortest possible time officially. But please consider our discussion today as averbal request to pave the way in the coming days. It will be elevated into a formal communication to your office,” Mr. Toweh said.

Meanwhile PAL has expressed sincere   thanks and appreciation to the Kingdom of Morocco through its Embassy near Monrovia for providing such opportunity. At the same time, PAL is appealing to other friendly countries to work closely with the Liberian media in strengthening its skill so as to play her role in the society.
