The Agriculture Ministry has dispatched twenty-nine (29) technical staff members to the People’s Republic of China to participate in a specialized training program focused on Agricultural Product Processing and Storage.
The 21-day bilateral training initiative aims to strengthen Liberia’s agricultural value chain by equipping participants with modern skills in food processing, post-harvest preservation, storage management, and innovative agricultural technologies to reduce food losses and improve value addition.
The delegation was invited by the China National Research Institute of Food and Fermentation Industries Corporation Limited and will participate in training activities in Beijing, with additional visits to Shanghai, Wenzhou, and Zhejiang Province.
The selected participants are technical staff directly involved in agricultural processing, storage management, post-harvest handling, and related value chain activities within the Ministry.
Through the training, participants will gain practical exposure to:
Modern processing technologies, Efficient storage systems,
Post-harvest preservation techniques, Innovative agricultural practices aimed at reducing food losses and increasing value addition.
The Ministry says the initiative aligns with the Government of Liberia’s broader agricultural transformation agenda and demonstrates its commitment to building a skilled workforce to drive sustainable growth and innovation in the sector.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Jay Doe Welah Jr., Team Leader and Regional Agriculture Coordinator for Region #5, thanked the Ministry’s leadership for the opportunity.
