President Joseph Boakai accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Kartumu Y. Boakai, and a delegation of Liberian officials, has arrived in Bali, Indonesia, to participate in the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF).
The delegation, which includes Minister of State for Presidential Affairs Sylvester Grisgsby, Minister of State Without Portfolio Mamaka Bility, Minister of Agriculture Dr. Alexander Nuetah, and Representative Nathanial Barway from Grand Kru County, landed in Bali late on Saturday, August 31st, after a nearly 30-hour journey.
The 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum, held under the theme “Bandung Spirit for Africa’s Agenda 2063,” is aimed at strengthening economic cooperation between Indonesia and African nations.
President Boakai is scheduled to address the Joint Leaders Session, sharing the stage with other prominent African leaders, including President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana, Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini of the Kingdom of Eswatini, and Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao of the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste.
During the forum, President Boakai will also meet with his Indonesian counterparts, Outgoing President Joko Widodo and Incoming President Prabowo Subianto, as well as engage with executives of the Golden Veroleum (GVL) Company, which operates in Liberia’s Sinoe County.
The 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum is expected to result in meaningful collaboration and agreements between Indonesia and the 47 African countries in attendance, as the event aims to foster dialogue, exchange ideas, and lay the groundwork for substantial economic cooperation between the two regions.
Upon the conclusion of the IAF, President Boakai and the Liberian delegation will depart for the People’s Republic of China to attend the Forum for China Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
