The Solidarity and Trust for a New Day (STAND), a grassroots civil society organization dedicated to the promotion of justice, accountability, and democratic governance, has issued a strong worded statement stating, this year, 2025, words along will not be enough.
STAND through its national chairman, Mr. Mulbah Morlu said in 2024, his group stood in solidarity with many others as defenders of the people, raising their voices against injustice and seeking reforms through press releases and statements.
“This year, words alone will not be enough. The challenges of last year have transformed this New Year into our battlefield of non-violent actions—a pivotal moment to increase the fight for justice, accountability, and good governance,” Morlu said in a press statement.
It is a call to muster the courage to take peaceful actions when needed, standing firm in demand for a peaceful, safer, and better Liberia that ensures a brighter future for youth and enhances the quality of life for all citizens.
“The time to act has arrived, and we will rise to the challenge, no matter the cost. We are convinced that prioritizing the aspirations of the people is the best way to safeguard our democracy and protect the peace of our nation. Our collective struggle is not to collapse our democracy, but to truly rescue it from the brink of collapse.
As we pursue these goals, we strive to retain our friends and convince those who see themselves as our ‘enemies’ that our advocacy is for the greater good. However, we are not afraid if our position creates new ‘Enemies’ or results in the loss of old friends. In the end, we will remain firm in our mission, no matter the consequences”.
