The Liberia News Agency (LINA) and the Moroccan News Agency “Maghreb Arabe Presse”, (MAP) has signed an agreement aimed at strengthening cooperation and consolidating their partnership as well as their professional relations in all areas of common interest.
The agreement between LINA and MAP will facilitate training in the areas of photojournalism, women leadership, information system, sports journalism, fact checking, environmental and health reporting.
The agreement will also foster the exchange of Information and Content, where both agencies will exchange their news bulletins in English, as well as their photo, audio, video, and infographic services, provided by each party for the use of the other party.
The agreement also highlights Priority and Preference for both agencies. Whenever possible, when covering events in Morocco and Liberia, MAP and LINA will give priority to using the information provided by either party.
In the area of additional Services, the agreement states that contracting parties will strive to respond, as much as possible, to mutual requests for additional services not mentioned in this agreement.
In the area of facilities and assistance, both agencies agreed to undertake, to provide, whenever possible, facilities and assistance to their correspondents and special envoys in their respective countries.
Meanwhile, both parties have agreed to promote the exchange of experiences and mutual visits of journalists and administrative staff in order to strengthen cooperation between MAP and LINA. In the agreement, each party agreed to organize visits and training courses for journalists, technicians, and administrative staff of the other party in its own country for a maximum duration of 7 days.
The consummation of the agreement between the two news agencies automatically cancels and replaces the previous agreement signed on November 27, 2015, in Rabat.
The implementation of the agreement comes into effect from the date of its signature, (January 23, 2025) and will be valid for a period of one year. It will be tacitly renewed for the same period unless either contracting party declares in writing, three months before the expiration date, its desire to revise or cancel it.
The signing of the agreement took place on the second day of the 8th General Assembly of the Federation of Atlantic African Press Agency (FAAPA) in Rabat, Morocco, where the Director General of the Liberia News Agency, Mr. A Trokon Tarr signed on behalf of LINA while Mr. Fouad Arif signed on behalf of MAP.
