Eyewitnesses alleged that groups from Bolloh Kaykpo and Poe entered the Sasstown side of the disputed land, attempting to intimidate locals. The area, known for its gold deposits, has long been a flashpoint for tension, with mining activities fueling rival claims.
Residents accused Grand Kru County Land Administrator David Togba of involvement and suggested that influential miners from Bolloh may be backing the intruding parties. These allegations remain unverified.
During the confrontation, unidentified gunmen allegedly discharged live rounds, sparking panic across the community. Unconfirmed reports also suggest that individuals may have been forcibly taken during the clashes, though details remain unclear.
In response, Grand Kru County Administrative Officer Alphonso D.N. Teah visited the area in an effort to calm tensions and mediate between the communities. Local authorities have appealed for national government intervention to prevent further escalation.
The dispute threatens to fracture relations between Bolloh and Jlao Statutory Districts, historically regarded as sister communities. Residents warn that the gold-rich land conflict risks undermining decades of cooperation and shared identity.
