The alarming rise in violent attacks has once again been brought to the light as prominent health expert, Mr. Abdul Rahman-Bah, narrowly escaped yet another assassination attempt. This marks the third instance in which his life has been threatened, raising serious concerns about security lapses in the country.

While travelling from his residence in Mount Barclay through Nezoe Community to Old Road, where he was visiting his mother, Mr. Bah found himself facing looming danger at approximately 7:00 PM on Friday May 30, 2025. His journey took a terrifying turn when a group of armed men confronted him on the road. Initially unaware of their intentions, he hastily rolled up his car windows upon hearing their inquiries about his destination. It was only then that he noticed the firearms in their possession.

Realizing the imminent danger, Mr. Bah made a desperate attempt to flee. However, as he sped away, the assailants opened fire, riddling his vehicle with bullets. Miraculously, he emerged unharmed, though his car suffered significant damage.

Expressing his deep distress over the situation, Mr. Bah stated, “I am deeply concerned for my safety. This is the third time my life has been threatened, and I fear for my well-being. The government of Liberia must take immediate action to investigate these incidents and ensure the safety of its citizens,”

With this, concerned Liberians are demanding urgent security measures and a comprehensive investigation in Bah’s situation. His ordeal has intensified calls for authorities to intervene swiftly and put an end to such violent threats.

“No one should have to live in fear of violent attacks,” he asserted. “I call upon the state authorities to take this matter seriously and implement measures to protect the lives of citizens,” he added.

The escalating insecurity has heightened public anxiety, prompting renewed pressure on the government to act decisively. Citizens are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement. As demands for justice grow louder, the government response will be closely watched, with many hoping for swift and effective measures to restore peace and security in Liberia.

This shocking incident underscores the urgent need for strengthened security protocols to prevent further tragedies.

Many are wondering if the authorities will take decisive action, or will the nation witness yet another victim of unchecked violence.

Mr. Bah is the Country Representative of the Helen Loewenstein Memorial Trust (HLMT) a charity organization that is dedicated to supporting midwifery training in Liberia. It was established in 2019 to honor Helen Loewenstein, a British midwife who made significant contributions to midwifery education in Liberia before her passing in 2018.

HLMT provides grants to cover course fees and essential study expenses for student midwives who lack the financial means to pursue their training. The trust collaborates with institutions like the Esther Bacon School of Nursing and Midwifery in Liberia to enroll students in its grant program.

The victim is a UK-trained public health professional and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health in England.
