The Union of Liberian Associations in the Americas (ULAA) is set to make a significant impact in Liberia with the groundbreaking ceremony for a new multi-purpose complex scheduled for Saturday, April 26, 2025.
Valued at nearly $1 million, the facility will include a bank, library, playground, and other essential services, aiming to bridge the gap between the Liberian diaspora and their homeland.
A delegation of 35 members, led by ULAA National President Hon. Mohammed Keita, is currently in the country in advance of the highly anticipated event. The complex is designed to enhance ULAA’s operations and provide critical resources for both returning Liberians and local communities.
In addition to the construction launch, the ULAA delegation plans to engage in discussions with the Liberian government and other stakeholders about proposed out-of-country voting for Liberians in the upcoming 2029 elections. This move underscores ULAA’s commitment to ensuring that the voices of Liberians abroad are included in the democratic process back home.
The delegation will also partake in community outreach activities, distributing food and essential supplies to those in need in and around Monrovia. This initiative emphasizes ULAA’s dedication to supporting the welfare of its fellow citizens and promoting unity within the country.
Notable attendees at the groundbreaking ceremony will include prominent ULAA members such as Hon. Stephen Binda, Chairman on External Relations; Borbi Bropleh, National Secretary General; members of the Board of Directors; and chapter leaders from various regions in the United States.
Founded in 1976, ULAA is the largest Liberian non-profit organization in the diaspora, serving as a collective voice for Liberians in the Americas. The organization aims to promote social, cultural, and economic development within the Liberian community while fostering collaboration between the diaspora and Liberia.
