National leadership role is very strategic and a call for one to conduct himself in a way that will demonstrate preparedness in the discharge of duty. It is strategic because life and death of the citizens and other nationalities are tied around the decisions that are made by national leadership. That is the reason why universal standard is set by philosophers in keeping with Socrative method of national leadership.
Socrates, a great Greek philosopher to ever live on the surface of the earth says, ” In order for the land to be stable, peaceful and calm, let philosophers serve a its leaders”. These are few leadership characteristics that a leaders must possess.
A leader must be moderate, persuasive, foresighted, fluent, expressive, consultative, thoughtful and reconciling. From the look of things, Koon is believed to be in a serious deficit when it comes to leadership qualities.
On several occasions, Koon has proven to be a million miles away from a universally acceptable standards of leadership qualities. His inability to conduct himself in keeping with leadership standards is causing Liberians serious national embarrassment.
Mr. Koon of recent apologized to the media for making a reckless threat to Journalists. This attempt by Koon to muscle the media was condemned by the Press Union of Liberia (PUL), and other Civil society organizations.
Mr. Koon recently threatened to deal with his colleagues who would speak out of session. He talks down on his colleagues as though he is their employer, but his latest call did not go on deaf ears with District #10 Representative, Hon. Yekeh Kolubah. He challenged Mr. Koon to desist because he does not have the authority to take any unilateral decision against any of his colleagues.
Another flaw of Mr. Koon is arbitrary removal of legitimate employees of the House of Representatives from their positions and brought in his supporters to occupy those positions. He placed them in strategic positions and are well paid then the original employees.
Least did he know that those he had removed from job were brought by his colleagues. It is unfortunate to note that lawmakers instead of creating job for their supporters, they are usurping the functions of the Civil Service Agency ( CSA) by dumping their supporters in the employ of the House of Representatives at the disadvantage of the legitimate staff.
Mr. Koon, before his multiple Marital scandal, he had placed more national burdens on the state by influencing the creation of additional electoral Districts to be added on the original seventy-three (73) seats thereby increasing the threshold of district representation to sixty-five (65,000).
How be it, this bill had suffered setback as the president had refused to sign it. The flaw of Koon has the propensity to make Liberia a laughing stock because the failure of the legislature to probe Mr. Koon will send a wrong signal to the outside world.
